Job Description

PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHERPRIMARY
FUNCTIONTeach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education and individual and team sports to students in grades 1 12; Assist in other programs assigned. Provide students appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned in order to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function in contemporary society and pass all state required exams
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and implement lesson plans for the curriculum assigned and employ accommodations for individual student differences Work cooperatively with the Special Education teachers to modify curricula as needed for Special Education students according to guidelines established in the Individual Educational PlanBe familiar with and implement FitnessGramPresent subject matter in accordance with the guidelines established by TEA, board policies, and administrative regulationsUse appropriate instructional strategies, best practices, activities, materials, and equipment for assigned students as well as improve fitness and habitsWork cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in IEPsAssess student achievement through formal and informal testingDemonstrate professional, responsible, and ethical behavior Participate in district and campus staff development and faculty meetings. Demonstrate interest in and initiative toward continued professional developmentMaintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, facility members, and community membersManage student behaviors in accordance with board policies, IEPs, BIPs, administrative regulations, facility behavioral programs, and the student code of conductRemain informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for teachersCompile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documentation as requiredPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
