Aug 19, 2026 Job Description Mount Abraham Unified School District is seeking an enthusiastic and student-centered Long-Term Substitute Physical Education Teacher to join the team at Bristol Elementary School. This temporary position begins at the start of the school year and is expected to continue through October while covering a leave of absence. The successful candidate will create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, healthy habits, and lifelong wellness for elementary-aged students. Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging physical education lessons aligned with Vermont standards.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Encourage positive sportsmanship, cooperation, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Maintain effective classroom management and supervise students during physical activities.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, school staff, and administration as needed.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the role of a Physical Education teacher.
The salary for this position is $307.75 per day. This is a temporary position and is not eligible for benefits. Please note that this assignment is expected to continue through October; however, if the regular classroom teacher returns from leave earlier than anticipated, this temporary assignment will end on the teacher's return date.
