A Physics Professor teaches foundational hypotheses, theories, and methods in physics to students through a combination of classroom instruction, lab experience, field experience, and assignments at colleges, trade schools or other institutes. May assist or lead in the creation of the curriculum to be taught. In addition to instruction, they may assist or lead in research initiatives relating to their field.
College of Science and Health Position Description:
The Physics and Astrophysics Department invites expressions of interest in part-time faculty teaching opportunities for the 2026-2027 Academic year within the following areas: Teaching algebra based first year sequence Teaching physics to the non-science students Teaching basic electronics courses to non-physics majors Preference given to persons experienced in using PER methods. In order to best serve the students, part-time faculty are expected to perform all duties and responsibilities of a faculty member that are commensurate and consistent with the faculty member's qualifications and the best interests of DePaul University.

PhD or Masters in subject area to be taught is required.

Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).
