Part Time Faculty, Dept. of Physics, Photonics and Optical Engineering Posting Details Position Information Title Part Time Faculty, Dept. of Physics, Photonics and Optical Engineering Rank Adjunct Instructor Tenure Information Non-Tenure Track Department Summary The Department of Physics, Photonics and Optical Engineering at Bridgewater State University is a versatile and growing department making new and exciting strides in our curriculum and research. We currently have more than ninety Physics, Photonics and Optical Engineering Majors, a handful of Physics Minors and fifteen Master of Arts in Physical Science students. Most of our Majors take part in intensive and well-funded summer research programs in astrophysics, optics and biological physics with our faculty of world renowned scientists through collaboration. Essential Duties The Department of Physics at Bridgewater State University seeks qualified Part Time Faculty for the 2026/2027 academic year, who are enthusiastic teachers and dedicated to working with undergraduates.
Candidates must:
demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities. Utilize an equity- minded framework to prepare lesson plans which incorporate varied instructional techniques, multi-media, integration strategies designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students. Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Encourage student success to all students regardless of race. Specific course offerings for which Part Time Faculty are requested include general algebra-based physics I and II, astronomy for non-majors, physical science for students majoring in elementary education, as well as upper-level courses for physics and engineering majors. Required Qualifications Masters Degree in Physics, Engineering or related field. Preferred Qualifications Teaching experience preferred. The current salary rate for a typical 3 credit lecture course taught by a new part-time faculty member in the day program is $4,005.00, paid through bi-weekly payroll direct deposit. Rates may vary for other course types based on contact hour equivalencies.
