EXPECTATIONS AND NATURE OF THE POSITION
The primary responsibility of this individual is to provide quality instruction to Western students enrolled in classes taught at the main campus in Rock Springs. This individual must be able to relate to a wide variety of students in the community college environment. This individual's responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate engineering courses. The teaching responsibilities include but are not limited to Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, and Circuits. Depending on course content and laboratory requirements, courses may be offered in person, hybrid, or fully online. It is expected that this individual will accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective, competent manner and strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, this individual must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with college personnel and the public. This individual will follow all college policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR WHICH THIS INDIVIDUAL IS ACCOUNTABLE
Primary Duties:
Teach assigned physics courses including, but not limited to Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, and Circuits. Deliver course content through the institution's learning management system using asynchronous and/or synchronous methods. Facilitate laboratory or applied learning experiences as appropriate. Develop and administer assessments, including common assessments for the purpose of program review, and submit grades on time. Maintain regular interaction with students. Communicate with the Department Chair regarding course delivery and student needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Abilities) 1. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Master's degree in one of several related degrees listed below or a Master's degree in any field, plus 18 graduate credits acquired from any of the related degrees listed below. 2. Equivalent Experience may be satisfied by a PE license or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics with a minimum of 7 years' experience in research or industry. 3. Comprehensive knowledge of the concepts, technologies, principles and practices of Engineering. 4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and administrators. 5. Ability to exercise sound judgment in all facets of the student-teacher relationship and to teach a diverse group of community college students. 6. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills. Related Degrees Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Physical Science with an Engineering emphasis, Astrophysics with an Engineering emphasis, Biophysics with an Engineering emphasis, Chemical Physics with an Engineering emphasis, Geophysics with an Engineering emphasis, Applied Mathematics with a Physics or Engineering emphasis, or Materials Science with an Engineering emphasis.

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
(Knowledge, Abilities, Education and Experience) 1. Experience using active approaches to learning; experience using alternative methods of learning, such as interactive software, Internet, or individualized modular programs. 2. Active participation in relevant professional organizations. 3. Evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level substantiated by student evaluations and letters of recommendation.
