Job Description

Job Title Political and Global Affairs (Dual Enrollment), Full-Time Lecturer, Faculty Department Political and Global Affairs University Expectation MTSU seeks candidates committed to innovative teaching and meaningful service. We also seek to attract culturally and academically diverse faculty who value working with diverse students. Salary The salary is commensurate with education and experience. Job Summary/Basic Function The Department of Political and Global Affairs at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) dual enrollment faculty position (#130460) at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment. The contract may be renewed annually, subject to available funding, demonstrated need, and satisfactory performance as assessed through annual evaluations. The appointment start date is August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will teach sections of dual-enrollment introductory political science classes at local high schools and, as needed, additional courses on the MTSU campus to meet a full-time teaching workload each semester. The dual enrollment sections will be offered as part of the normal high school course schedule. On-campus classes may include introductory political science classes, Social Media & Politics, and Tennessee Politics. The successful candidate must communicate regularly with the high school administration and the department chair at MTSU to coordinate planned course activities with the high school calendar. Required Education A master's degree in political science or political management, Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Policy, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date. Other Desirables Applicants with experience teaching at least one semester of dual-enrollment political science, law, or public policy classes will receive special consideration. Those with experience in experiential learning and other high-impact teaching practices, or those with a PhD in political science, will also receive special consideration.
