POLITICAL SCI & GEOGRAPHY
Position Number PT0250 Job Description Old Dominion University seeks applicants for part-time Adjunct instructional faculty to teach online and on-campus courses in our Political Science, Geography, and International Studies programs. We are especially seeking General Education course instructors. This post may remain open for additional applications as opportunities arise. Those selected will be hired as part of an adjunct pool, which will be utilized as needed based on which courses are in need of coverage. Our greatest need is for instructors who can teach
POLS 100S
Intro. International Politics, 101S Intro. American Politics, and 102S Intro. Comparative Govt. and Politics, GEOG 100S Human Geography, 101S Environmental Geography, and 102T Digital Earth. We also welcome applicants available to teach these courses on-campus face-to-face. Position Type Part-Time Type of Recruitment General Public Type of Recruitment General Public Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications M.A., M.S., or Ph.D. in Political Science, Geography, or closely-related fields with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline of course/s teaching. Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Office and Canvas Learning Mgt. System Preparation and/or experience teaching introductory-level courses in Political Science and/or Geography at the college level.
Preferred Qualifications For Political Science:
experience teaching American or internatinal politics and ability to onnect theory to current civic engagement
For Geography:
instructors who can bridge the gap between substantive human or environmental geography and geospatial technology.
For both:
proficiency in asynchronous and web-based instruction, interaction, and high student evaluations.
