Job Description

Primary Function:
The Area Director provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and staff management across multiple school-based Club sites. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed programming, strong staff performance, compliance with all licensing and organizational standards, and meaningful relationships with school partners. The Area Director leads and develops site-level staff, including Leads and Youth Development Coordinators (YDCs), and is accountable for program execution, staff performance, and overall site success. This position models the mission, values, and culture of the Boys & Girls Club of Benton County while ensuring each site provides a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for youth.
Responsibilities:
BGCBC Culture & Leadership Model and promote the Boys & Girls Club of Benton County's mission, values, and trauma-informed approach in all interactions. Create and maintain emotionally and physically safe, inclusive, and engaging Club environments across all assigned sites. Lead with a focus on relationship-building, consistency, accountability, and youth-centered outcomes. Ensure programming and staff practices reflect dignity, belonging, emotional safety, and empowerment. Staff Supervision & Performance Management Directly supervise Leads and Youth Development Coordinators (YDCs) across assigned sites. Responsible for hiring staff, in partnership with leadership as needed. Conduct annual performance reviews for Leads and YDCs. Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management to ensure staff success and accountability. Address performance concerns proactively, including development plans or corrective action when needed. Lead weekly Lead staff meetings, incorporating program planning, expectations, and continuous improvement. Support onboarding, training, and professional development of all site staff. Club Onboarding & Training Oversee and ensure completion of Club onboarding for all new staff. Ensure all DHS and required compliance trainings are completed and tracked. Support ongoing staff development aligned with BGCBC standards and youth development best practices. Program Oversight & Quality Assurance Ensure consistent, high-quality programming is implemented across all sites. Monitor lesson plans, schedules, and program delivery to ensure alignment with organizational standards and grant requirements. Ensure programming is visible, structured, and engaging for all members. Support Leads in planning and executing programs that meet the needs and interests of youth. School & Community Partnerships Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with school faculty and administration. Serve as the primary liaison between school sites and BGCBC. Represent the organization with professionalism, responsiveness, and collaboration. Operational Oversight & Administration Oversee daily operations across multiple sites to ensure safety, consistency, and efficiency. Ensure all sites are meeting licensing, DHS, and organizational requirements. Conduct monthly site walkthroughs to monitor compliance, safety, and program quality. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting across sites. Provide monthly reports to Director summarizing site performance, needs, and outcomes. Payroll & Systems Management Responsible for Paycom oversight for assigned staff, including: Approving timecards Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payroll Support accountability around staff attendance and scheduling. Compliance & Safety Ensure all sites adhere to policies related to safety, supervision, and member protection. Maintain compliance with licensing requirements, inspections, and documentation. Ensure staff are trained and prepared to respond to emergencies and follow safety protocols. Additional Responsibilities Step in to support sites as needed, including coverage during staffing gaps. Assist with organizational initiatives, events, and special projects. Perform other duties as assigned to support Club operations and success.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
One of the following: Bachelor's Degree in a non-related field from a regionally accredited college or university plus one (1) of the following: Four (4) years of experience in early childhood education or elementary education Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or Out of School Time Credential. Of, Nine (9) college hours of credit in child/youth development. Associate Degree in Early Childhood, Child or Youth Development or a related field, plus six (6) years of experience in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education; and Eight (8) years of experience in Early Childhood or Elementary Education and completion of one (1) of the following, with two (2) years of employment: Out of School Time Credential; Childhood Development Associates Credential; Directors Credential or the equivalent of; or Technical Certificate in Early Childhood Education. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Group leadership skills including an understanding of group dynamics. Demonstrate organizational, staff, and project management abilities.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to: sit regularly, use hands to handle, and/or feel; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally walk and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to drive for errands.
