The Assistant Director will provide direct support to the Center Director to ensure that all needs are met for the day-to-day operations of the Specialized Early Learning program including oversight of staff. Program serves three & four year old children. The Assistant Director will work in tandem with the director to develop and enact quality protocols and processes for serving children and families and manage the program in a unified approach to create the best outcomes.NOTE:
APPLICANTS MUST HAVE 5 YRS EXPERIENCE IN BIRTH-5YO WITH A MINIMUM OF 1 YR AT CENTER DIRECTOR LEVEL
Essential Functions:
Function as a lead or assistant teacher in a classroom to meet ratio needs as assigned. Assist with creating and adjusting staff work schedules to provide proper coverage, developing daily break schedules, and accommodating requests for leave Organize and prepare child enrollment documents to ensure compliance Support the Director's reporting requirements with data entry, gathering or manipulation Maintain a frontline contact with parents to meet their needs, answer questions and coordinate services in the absence of or in tandem with the Center Director Assist in processing, documenting and filing various reports and information for children and classrooms Assist with and contribute to organizing staff events, meeting and trainings Act as liaison to parents and the community for promotion of the center and representation of the organization Assist the Center Director in maintaining records of the building's administration in accordance with federal, state and local requirements Assist the Center Director in ensuring the program adheres to local licensing regulations Recommend quality enhancements, modifications or improvements to the Center Director to meet immediate and long-term needs Create a plan for continuing education with the Center Director annually to develop the position Other duties as assignedSupervision Received:

Latitude to make decisions for the most effective operations of the assigned program with guidance and approval of Supervisor.Knowledge and Skills Required:
Minimum education - Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Early Childhood or Elementary Education, or related Preferred education - Masters Degree At least 5 years of experience as a Birth-Five years childcare teacher with minimum 1 year experience as an Assistant Director or comparable experience in similar field DCF 45 clock hours completed.Preferred:
Florida Child Care Director's Credential Ability to pass required background checks and Level 2 fingerprint clearance (and maintain throughout employment) Level 2Fingerprint Background Screening Information:
The Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse) is a first-in-the-nation enterprise system for background screening results of individuals required by law to undergo screening for employment in positions that provide services to vulnerable populations, as mandated by House Bill 531 (2025): https://info.flclearinghouse.com Fluent in English; preference will be given to qualified bilingual candidates Advanced understanding of local licensing requirements for health, safety and childcare center operations regulations Understanding of local, state and federal laws and regulations for the administration of the building and code enforcement Understanding of the rules and procedures for reporting suspected child abuse Understanding of the organizational and center rules and policies for documenting, managing and reporting child injury incidents and accidents Working knowledge of the center curriculum and how to implement and document Understanding of the contracts between the Center and funding partners, such as the Early Learning Coalition (ELC) of Pinellas and The Juvenile Welfare Board (JWB). Skill in managing and supervising staff Skills in responding to and engaging with parents to address, concerns and questions and to minimize potential conflicts Current First Aid/CPR, including Infant and Child CPR, or willing to obtain upon hire Physical strength to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 45 lbs. Use of the arms, legs, hands and feet or an LE-approved alternative accommodation that meets the needs of caring for children in a classroom, on the playground or in an emergency. Ability to use computer software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Email client, Internet) in both Windows and Google environments to communicate and maintain records Demonstration of good judgment, initiative, reliability, and trustworthiness Adherence to a code of conduct that includes professionalism, respect and kindness in word, deed and action with all participants of the program including staff.
