Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Supports program compliance of all regulatory agencies for classrooms and staff. 2. Supports classroom staff by providing timely feedback based on observations and data through formal and informal processes including the development and support of professional growth such as: mentoring, intensive coaching and Performance Improvement Plans. 3. Ensure IFSP and IEPs are successfully implemented. 4. Provide support to classroom staff and collaborative information regarding student progress and classroom strategies such as: screenings, assessments and tier strategy implementation at AEA meetings. 5. Assist classroom staff implementation of strategies to increase academic and behavioral outcomes. 6. Conduct and analyze GOLD, CLASS and
TPOT/TPITOS
data to make program and professional development decisions. 7. Promote opportunities for staff that foster equity and team cohesiveness: strong communication skills, critical thinking, conflict resolution and decision making. 8. Provide Practice Base Coaching. 9. Ensure documentation meets HSPS, DHS and
IQ4K. 10.
Oversight of the CDA process. 11. Participates in professional growth and development. 12. Responsible for program professional development opportunities based on data and program requirements. 13. Complies with policies and procedures.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Access, input and retrieve information from computer. 2. File and organize Head Start information. 3. Inventory supplies and equipment. 4. Familiarity with computer knowledge and skills in computer operations 5. Attend meetings and trainings as required. 6. Viable means of transportation, and evidence of insurance, valid Iowa driver's license and acceptable driving record. 7. Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. Minimum of two years preschool teaching experience. Ability to integrate social emotional activities and philosophies into group settings. Observation, listening, interviewing, and assessment skills. Knowledge of best practice, curriculum and assessment. Assist in the classroom in the absence of classroom staff. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work as an effective team member. Knowledge of HS Performance Standards, State licensing rules and NAEYC Accreditation.
Certifications:
Mandatory Reporter, CPR, First Aid, Universal Precautions and CLASS. Limited Chauffeur's license with acceptable driving record to transport children in isolated instances. Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force on occasion, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 5-10 pounds constantly, performing such activities as stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, including some duties requiring repetitive motion skills, such as keyboarding and computer use. Initial physical and one every 3 years thereafter. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a comparable degree with an Early Childhood Endorsement. Minimum of two (2) years of preschool teaching experience. Strong computer proficiency. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively coach, mentor, and collaborate with teaching staff. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience coaching or mentoring early childhood educators. Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and early childhood best practices. Experience implementing research-based early childhood curricula. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Passion for continuous improvement and supporting high-quality learning environments. Upper Des Moines Opportunity (UDMO) is seeking a dedicated and motivated Early Childhood Education Coach to support the Buena Vista County Head Start program in Storm Lake, Iowa. The Education Coach partners with classroom teachers to strengthen instructional practices through coaching, mentoring, and implementation of research-based curriculum and teaching strategies. This position plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality early childhood education that promotes positive outcomes for children and families.
