A Preschool or Childcare Director manages and directs programs for very young children. Supervises child care workers and pre-school teachers. Proposes policies, program fees and budgets for approval by a program board or administrative agency or implements policies of a national organization. Meets with parents and staff to discuss the development, learning and behavior of children in the program or center. Orders supplies and monitors maintenance and cleaning at a facility. Ensures that the program or center meets state and federal guidelines.

  • Part-time Support planning and coordination of program and its activities.
Ensure implementation and compliance of YMCA, State and School guidelines, policies and procedures. Ensure individual needs of children are met. Maintain positive relationships with staff, families, school personnel and volunteers. Maintain an environment that ensures children, staff and family safety and well being Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that advance all areas of children's development and learning, including social, emotional, intellectual and physical competency Conduct program in accordance with YMCA goals and principles of developmentally appropriate practices Supervise and mentor group leaders and support staff. Support program growth and development. Ensure zero tolerance for abuse and actively participate in the protection of youth and teens. Performs all other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
  • also see State or Director Variance requirements): Must be at least 18 years of age (see specific requirements) Possess at least 1 year experience working in child care/camp/recreation or related field.
Ability to use typical business software and office equipment. Strong communication, organization and detail skills. Understanding of the role of volunteerism within the YMCA. Must have strong leadership skills, be self-motivated and possess knowledge of group work principles. Program Specific Requirements Site Director-Exemption or Variance Certification in the following areas per required timeline: Principals of Early Learning & Afterschool Engaging Youth 5-9 Engaging Youth 9-12 School Are Child Care Director Full Compensation Package (when applicable): 403(b) Retirement Savings Retirement fund of 12% per pay period after completing 1,000 hours of service during any two 12-month period.
