Job Description

Responsible for afterschool program's daily operations and administrative responsibilities. Duties include the planning/implementation of recreation activities; planning/implementation of monthly student service learning (SSL) events; supervising afterschool staff and volunteers; creating fun, engaging, and safe environment for middle school aged children; maintaining clean and organized site; fostering clear communication with staff, parents, and center supervisors; supervising children responsibly, following disciplinary procedures and enforcing rules in a positive and supporting manner; maintaining accurate attendance and snack sheet records; driving in city van to local middle school for student pick up. Afterschool Director's schedule is 2:30 pm - 6:30 pm on days that MCPS is in session and 12:30 pm - 6:30 pm on MCPS early release days.
Qualifications/Skills:
Valid Maryland driver's license required. First Aid/CPR certification preferred. Fluent in English and Spanish preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years' experience supervising children and staff in recreation activities or related field.
Education:
Completion of child development program preferred. Educational courses equivalent to two years of college or equal amount of supervisory experience with children and at least 21 years of age.
