Job Description
Part-Time Preschool Director (Church-Based Program) Wilmington, NC | $25/hour | Up to 30 hours/week About the Role We are seeking a strong, experienced Preschool Director to lead a church-based early childhood program focused on educational excellence, teacher quality, and a Christ-centered learning environment. This role is responsible for ensuring that all classrooms deliver developmentally appropriate, high-quality learning experiences and are led by qualified, capable teachers. The Director will also work closely with church leadership and the preschool committee to maintain clear, alignment, and shared goals. Many of the key responsibilities are in place or completed for the 26-27 school year and an Assistance Director/Team Lead will share many responsibilities. This role will oversee and make adjustments where needed within the following Key Responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Educational Leadership (Primary Focus) Ensure all classrooms provide developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) and play-based curriculum Oversee early childhood curriculum implementation across all age groups Ensure children have access to high-quality learning materials and classroom environments Conduct regular classroom observations and provide teacher coaching Support teachers in lesson planning, classroom management, and child development Christian-Based Learning & Ministry Integration Integrate Christian values, Bible stories, and prayer into the preschool environment Model Christ-centered behavior in all interactions Ensure alignment with the mission and values of Winter Park Baptist Church Staff Hiring & Development Recruit, hire, and retain qualified preschool teachers Ensure all staff meet North Carolina childcare licensing requirements Provide onboarding, training, and ongoing coaching Conduct performance evaluations and maintain accountability for teaching quality Church & Leadership Collaboration Partner with church staff, leadership, and the preschool committee Maintain clear, consistent communication and shared program goals Provide regular updates on enrollment, staffing, and program performance Family & Community Communication Serve as the primary point of contact for families Build strong, trust-based relationships with parents Communicate clearly regarding curriculum, expectations, and child development Compliance & Licensing Ensure compliance with North Carolina childcare licensing regulations Maintain proper staff-to-child ratios and documentation Oversee health, safety, and emergency procedures Operations & Administration Manage enrollment, tours, waitlists, and class placement Maintain accurate student and staff records Coordinate school calendar and communications Manage student schedules, family accounts, parent engagement and tuition posting and collection with ProCare (child care management system). Process deposits for the Preschool and work with the Church Treasurer. Assist committee with annual budget. Determine teacher pay with annual salaries and assisting with payroll entry through church administration Oversee daily preschool operations
