Job Description

Childcare Center Director Position Summary The Director ensures a safe, nurturing, and high quality educational environment for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years. This role provides overall leadership for the center, including staff management, program oversight, family engagement, and daily operations. The Director partners with the Board of Directors to uphold the organization's mission, values, financial health, and community reputation. This position reports to the SCK Board of Directors. Key Responsibilities Operations and Compliance Oversee daily operations, including admissions, enrollment, and scheduling Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations and standards Manage food program requirements and submit subsidy data to DHHS Maintain a safe and developmentally appropriate environment Leadership and Staff Management Recruit, hire, coach, evaluate, and manage staff Foster a positive and professional workplace culture Support curriculum implementation and instructional quality Family and Community Engagement Build strong relationships with families, staff, and community stakeholders Communicate effectively with parents and represent the center in the community Strategic Leadership and Governance Collaborate with the Board to set strategic direction and organizational goals Provide updates and recommendations on operations and performance Financial and Program Management Develop and manage the budget in partnership with the Board Monitor financial performance and ensure responsible use of resources Lead strategic planning and program evaluation Stay current on trends in early childhood education Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Background in Early Childhood Education, or related field Commitment to the organization's mission and values Management and budgeting experience preferred Ability to build relationships with families and the community Knowledge of basic nonprofit financial practices Strong communication and leadership skills Strategic, organized, and proactive mindset Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred or equivalent experience
