A Preschool or Childcare Director manages and directs programs for very young children. Supervises child care workers and pre-school teachers. Proposes policies, program fees and budgets for approval by a program board or administrative agency or implements policies of a national organization. Meets with parents and staff to discuss the development, learning and behavior of children in the program or center. Orders supplies and monitors maintenance and cleaning at a facility. Ensures that the program or center meets state and federal guidelines.

Individuals will provide classroom leadership as they strive to manage a program that exceeds organizational standards and corporate expectations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintain a center that meets or exceeds the company guidelines, licensing requirements, health regulations, and fire codes, and keep all permits and licenses current. Conduct tours for prospective parents, enroll new families, and assist the management's efforts to quickly ramp up and meet the academy's enrollment goals. Create and execute local marketing plan (both internal and external) necessary to drive new enrollments and maintain desired capacity. Recruit, train and retain quality staff. Handle staff scheduling and other personnel-related matters. Establish positive working relationships and communicate effectively with corporate office, staff, parents, children, state licensing authorities, vendors and other members of the community. Completes all required paperwork and record keeping on a timely basis and maintains same in an organized, up-to-date manner.
This includes all academy files:
for example, student, personnel, health and safety files. Manage the finances of the center effectively and within budgetary guidelines. Ensure all finance-related record keeping requirements are met.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education - 5+ years of experience in early childhood education setting. 2+ years of experience as a Director of licensed child care programs. Solid understanding of NAEYC and/or NAC accreditation and New Jersey state licensing standards. Excellent leadership and organizational skills required Strong customer service and communication skills (both written and oral) required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computers a must Experience with managing budgets and implementing marketing programs. Must be physically agile, highly energetic and be able to work both indoors and outdoors Qualified candidates only. Previous experience in a start-up child care will be a plus!
