A Preschool or Childcare Director manages and directs programs for very young children. Supervises child care workers and pre-school teachers. Proposes policies, program fees and budgets for approval by a program board or administrative agency or implements policies of a national organization. Meets with parents and staff to discuss the development, learning and behavior of children in the program or center. Orders supplies and monitors maintenance and cleaning at a facility. Ensures that the program or center meets state and federal guidelines.
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Director to join our educational leadership team. Duties Assist the Center Director in leading teaching staff, supporting families, and achieving enrollment, accreditation, and operational objectives Partner with parents with a shared desire to provide the best care and education for their children Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts, and corporate partners Serve in various roles throughout the center as needed, including teacher, cook, and/or driver. At least two years of early childhood education experience required, with an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and the ability to ensure its use in the classroom Excellent administrative, organizational, verbal, listening, and communication skills required Physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors Able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity Read, write, understand, and speak English to communicate with children and their parents in English Knowledge of state licensing regulations and accreditation standards. Experience maintaining licensing documentation and compliance records. Strong organizational and time management skills. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Business Management, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred). Current state-required Early Childhood Education credentials and licensing requirements. CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or ability to obtain upon hire). Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a licensed early childhood education setting. At least 1-2 years of leadership, supervisory, or administrative experience preferred. Experience working with children from infancy through school age. Strong understanding of curriculum implementation, child development, and developmentally appropriate practices. Experience communicating effectively with families and resolving concerns professionally.
