Job Description

Hope Learning Center is a faith-based early childhood development center. It is expected that the Director is a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, committed to living a daily life that is consistent with the beliefs of Hope Church Albany (http://hope.church/beliefs) and the Statement of Faith of the National Association of Evangelicals (2019, Statement of Faith | National Association of Evangelicals). The Director reports to the Lead Pastor of Hope Church. Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and visionary Childcare/Preschool Director to lead our early childhood education program with passion and purpose. The Center Director is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the center's care. The Center Director is directly accountable for overall operational management in accordance with well-established guidelines, including curriculum development, staff and facilities management, legal and budgetary considerations, and long-range planning. The Center Director ensures that the needs of the students and the goals of the Center are met appropriately. Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership to the preschool, setting goals aligned with educational best practices and community needs. Develop and implement innovative curriculum plans that promote holistic child development and learning engagement. Manage daily operations, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure smooth program functioning. Supervise teaching staff and support their professional growth through coaching, evaluations, and ongoing training. Lead fundraising efforts to secure resources that enhance program quality and expand community outreach initiatives. Oversee budgeting processes, monitor expenses, and ensure financial sustainability of the preschool. Foster positive relationships with families, addressing concerns promptly and maintaining open communication channels. Represent the preschool at public events, conferences, and community meetings through confident public speaking and advocacy. Advise the Lead Pastor and Church Council in governance best practices, responsibilities, risk management, finance, and legal matters. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required Minimum of 1 year of experience and/or training in management and supervision of adults. Strong oral and written communication skills; technology skills. Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment. A strong understanding of child development as evidenced by a combination of professional references, education, experience, or training. Strong finance and budgeting skills. Excellent leadership, organization, and interpersonal skills. Be at least 21 years of age. Must clear the full background check. Willing to become a member of Hope Church (preferred but not required). Education Requirements Bachelor's degree or associate degree in early childhood education or related field with a minimum of 30 credits in ECE. License/Certification Documentation of attaining at least step nine in the Oregon Registry. Infant/child CPR & First certification. Willing to complete all state required certifications and maintain yearly.
