A Preschool or Childcare Director manages and directs programs for very young children. Supervises child care workers and pre-school teachers. Proposes policies, program fees and budgets for approval by a program board or administrative agency or implements policies of a national organization. Meets with parents and staff to discuss the development, learning and behavior of children in the program or center. Orders supplies and monitors maintenance and cleaning at a facility. Ensures that the program or center meets state and federal guidelines.
Job Summary Diamond Street Early childhood Center is an independent nonprofit childcare center that is currently seeking a Program Director. The childcare or preschool Program Director (Director) reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for the success of early childcare and education programs, of Diamond Street Early Childhood Center as well as the school age summer camp program. The Director will work closely with the Preschool Program Director and the Student Supports Coordinator. The Director is responsible for recommending new hires, supervising, coaching, goal setting for, and evaluating the performance of staff within the Center's HR procedures and guidelines. The Director is responsible for the overall planning, development, and implementation of age-appropriate programs to enhance the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional develop of children. They must ensure that programing follows the Center's vision, mission, and values, and the Center's childcare and educational philosophy, as well as ensure the center remains within the guidelines and requirements of Star 4 accreditation. The Director may also spend up to 20% of time in classroom covering/substituting as needed. Some center wide administrative tasks may also be assigned as appropriate.
