Job Description

Job Summary The School-Age Program Lead is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising a high-quality before and after school program for children from kindergarten to fourth grade. This position creates a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment that supports children's academic, social, emotional, and physical growth. The School-Age Program Lead develops lesson plans aligned with state early learning and school-age standards, supervises program staff when assigned, maintains licensing compliance, and fosters positive relationships with children, families, school personnel, and community partners Duties Communicate and interact regularly and appropriately with the staff, children and families of WELC and promote WELC mission, vision, and policies among all stakeholders as determined by the Administrative and Educational Directors and WELC Board of Directors. Assist in maintaining accurate and up to date program records and documentation of child, staff, and family information related to the WELC school-age program. Develop and implement weekly and monthly lesson plans aligned with state school-age learning standards and licensing regulations Teach and model for staff, children, and families of Waynesboro Early Learning Center the expectations, procedures, and policies of WELC. Provide active supervision during before school, after school, school breaks, and summer programming. Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming classroom environment. Support, mentor, and assist assistant teachers and program aides. Follow all state licensing regulations, center policies, and health and safety procedures. Promote teamwork and collaboration between staff members and families through positive relationships created through clear and open communication and honest care and concern for each other as individuals. Follow and abide by all WELC staff policies and regulations. Maintain a professional image and promote the values of WELC as a positive role model for staff, children, and families. Assist Administrative and Educational Directors with other tasks as needed Qualifications Proven experience working with children in educational or childcare settings; camp experience or babysitting background is highly valued. Strong classroom management skills complemented by knowledge of behavior management techniques. Certifications such as First Aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), AED operation, and First Aid protocols are required; ongoing training provided if necessary. Familiarity with special education needs and childhood development theories to support diverse learners. Demonstrated ability to lead a team effectively while fostering a positive environment for both staff and children. Background in early childhood education or childhood development enhances your ability to create impactful programs. Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, staff, and community partners.
