In this role, you will be the heartbeat of our educational programs—overseeing curriculum implementation, providing robust support and mentorship to our teaching staff, and managing daily facility operations. Your leadership will inspire volunteers, staff, and stakeholders alike, creating a vibrant environment focused on positive outcomes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape programs that promote social well-being, public health, and community engagement.
Oversee the implementation and success of our educational curriculum. Monitor classroom lesson plans, offer creative resources, and ensure activities are developmentally appropriate and engaging.
Teacher Support & Mentorship:
Serve as a dedicated coach for our teaching staff. Conduct regular classroom observations to provide constructive, empowering feedback, model best practices, and support teachers in their professional growth.
Staff Management & Culture:
Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain high-quality early childhood educators. Build a positive, collaborative, and enthusiastic team culture where teachers feel valued, respected, and motivated.
Daily Program Operations:
Ensure the day-to-day operations of the center run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. Oversee staff scheduling, classroom transitions, and daily routines.
Compliance & Safety:
Maintain absolute compliance with all South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS) licensing regulations, health department codes, and safety standards. Keep meticulous, up-to-date records for children and staff files.
Family Partnerships:
Foster warm, trusting relationships with parents and guardians through transparent communication, regular updates regarding their child's developmental progress, and center events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a closely related field is highly preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching in a licensed childcare setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory, administrative, or instructional leadership role (e.g., Assistant Director, Lead Teacher, or Mentor Coach).
Certifications:
Must meet South Carolina DSS requirements for a Center Director. South Carolina Early Care and Education (ECD) credentials or a Director's Credential preferred. Current CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain immediately).
Skills:
Deep knowledge of child development milestones and SC childcare licensing regulations. Strong passion for mentoring educators and fostering positive workplace environments. Proficiency in childcare management apps (e.g., Brightwheel, Procare) for parent communication and staff scheduling. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
