Sahara Early Learning Center is seeking an experienced, passionate, and results-driven Assistant Director / Site Director to help lead our center and uphold the highest standards of early childhood education, child safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the center, ensuring compliance with all Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) licensing regulations, developing and coaching staff, delivering exceptional family experiences, and driving enrollment growth. The ideal candidate is an experienced childcare leader who is organized, accountable, customer-focused, and committed to building a high-performing team and a thriving early learning environment. Key Responsibilities As the Assistant Director / Site Director, you will: Lead the day-to-day operations of the center, ensuring a safe, organized, and high-quality learning environment. Ensure continuous compliance with all Tennessee DHS Child Care Licensing Rules and Regulations , including staff qualifications, classroom ratios, health and safety standards, documentation, incident reporting, emergency preparedness, and readiness for announced and unannounced licensing inspections. Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate teachers and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Support curriculum implementation through classroom observations, instructional coaching, and quality assurance to ensure developmentally appropriate learning experiences. Build strong relationships with families by providing exceptional customer service, conducting tours, addressing concerns professionally, and promoting family engagement. Drive enrollment growth and retention by conducting tours, following up with prospective families, supporting marketing and community outreach initiatives, building local partnerships, and meeting occupancy goals. Recruit, onboard, schedule, and retain high-quality educators while ensuring all staff training and professional development requirements are met. Oversee administrative functions including attendance, enrollment documentation, staff scheduling, licensing records, inventory management, tuition support, and facility organization. Serve as Acting Director in the Director's absence and model leadership, integrity, and professionalism at all times. Qualifications Required Bachelor's and/Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Business, or a related field. Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a licensed childcare center or facility. Minimum 5+ years of experience in Early Childhood Education. Strong knowledge of Tennessee DHS Child Care Licensing Rules and Regulations . Experience successfully maintaining licensing compliance and preparing for DHS inspections. Experience supervising and developing childcare staff. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain). Ability to pass all Tennessee background checks and fingerprinting requirements. Preferred Tennessee Early Childhood Program Administrator Credential (TECPAC), CDA or Director Credential. Experience with Procare or other childcare management software. Experience increasing enrollment and occupancy. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Why Join Sahara Early Learning Center?
