Jul 1, 2026 Job Description Position Overview The Family Resource Center (FRC) Director provides strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the Family Resource Center, ensuring it operates as a comprehensive, community-connected hub that supports students and families. The Director leads efforts to remove barriers to student success by coordinating services, building partnerships, and aligning resources to meet the unique needs of the community. Family Resource Centers are designed to strengthen families and improve student outcomes by connecting them with essential supports such as health services, counseling, education, and basic needs assistance. The Director ensures these services are delivered through a family-centered, strengths-based, and community-responsive approach. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership & Implementation Develop, implement, and continuously improve FRC programs aligned with district goals and state guidelines Ensure services address barriers to student success (e.g., attendance, behavior, academic engagement) Lead a whole-child approach, integrating academic, social, emotional, and physical supports Monitor program effectiveness through data collection, evaluation, and reporting Family & Student Support Systems Oversee intake, needs assessments, and individualized family support plans Ensure access to services such as counseling, basic needs assistance, mentoring, and parent education Promote family engagement through workshops, outreach, and communication Support crisis response and referral processes Community Partnerships & Resource Coordination Serve as the primary liaison between the school district and community agencies Build and sustain partnerships with healthcare providers, social services, nonprofits, and local businesses Coordinate wraparound services that support families holistically Advocate for families and connect them to appropriate resources and opportunities Staff Supervision & Capacity Building Recruit, supervise, and evaluate FRC volunteers Provide ongoing training in trauma-informed practices, cultural responsiveness, and family engagement Foster a collaborative, service-oriented team culture Operations, Compliance & Reporting Manage budgets, grants, and resource allocation Ensure compliance with state, district, and funding requirements Maintain accurate records, documentation, and program data Prepare reports for district leadership and stakeholders Community Engagement & Advocacy Promote awareness of FRC services within the community Engage families as partners in decision-making and program design Represent the district in community meetings and collaborative initiatives Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in social work, education, counseling, public administration, or related field 3-5+ years of experience in community services, education, or family support programs Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and community agencies
Preferred:
Experience managing programs, staff, and budgets Knowledge of Oak Ridge community resources and local agencies. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, family systems, and community-based services Core Competencies Strong relationship-building and partnership development skills Deep understanding of family and community needs Ability to lead with empathy, cultural responsiveness, and equity Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement mindset Impact of the Role The Family Resource Center Director plays a critical role in ensuring that students are supported beyond the classroom by strengthening families and aligning community resources. By serving as a bridge between schools, families, and community systems, this role directly contributes to improved student outcomes and overall well-being.
