A Preschool or Childcare Director manages and directs programs for very young children. Supervises child care workers and pre-school teachers. Proposes policies, program fees and budgets for approval by a program board or administrative agency or implements policies of a national organization. Meets with parents and staff to discuss the development, learning and behavior of children in the program or center. Orders supplies and monitors maintenance and cleaning at a facility. Ensures that the program or center meets state and federal guidelines.

Duties Lead and supervise school-age children during after-school hours, summer camps, and special events, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that promote social skills, creativity, physical activity, and childhood development. Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement techniques and effective behavior management strategies to maintain a respectful atmosphere. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children's progress, behavior, and program updates. Ensure adherence to minimum standards required by the State of Texas, including supervision and safety protocols, maintaining proper supervision ratios, conducting safety checks, and responding promptly to emergencies using first aid or CPR when necessary. You will be required to have First Aid/CPR training. Collaborate with team members to plan special programs that incorporate sports coaching, arts, theater experiences, or tutoring sessions aligned with children's interests. Maintain accurate attendance records, transition activity logs, and incident reports in compliance with program policies. Qualifications Proven experience working with children in childcare settings, camps, tutoring, or youth programs. Strong classroom management skills with the ability to handle diverse behaviors effectively. Certification in first aid and CPR; AED operation knowledge is preferred. Background in special education or childhood development is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to lead engaging activities related to sports coaching, theater arts, or other extracurricular interests. Excellent communication skills for interacting with children, parents, and team members professionally. Knowledge of early childhood education principles and behavior management techniques. Previous experience in daycare or babysitting roles is advantageous; camp experience is a plus.
