Job Description
Summary The Sonshine Preschool Director serves as both an educational administrator and a spiritual leader, ensuring that the preschool operates as a true extension of Restore Church s vision: to help people connect with God moment by moment. This role requires a Christ-centered leader who can provide spiritual guidance to staff and families while maintaining excellence in early childhood education and full compliance with state licensing standards. The Director will model a healthy and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, embody the vision and values of Restore Church, and lead the preschool with integrity, professionalism, and a genuine heart for children s spiritual, emotional, and physical development. As this is a ministry leadership position, the successful candidate must be willing to become a member of Restore Church within 90 days of employment. Essential Qualifications A growing, Christ-like character and commitment to the vision and values of Restore Church. Membership (or willingness to become a member within 90 days) at Restore Church. Faithfully tithes 10% of personal income to Restore Church as an act of worship and commitment to the local body Meets the Texas licensing qualifications for a Director of a licensed child care center (per Protective Services Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers). Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills with the ability to relate well to children, staff, and families. Physical, visual, auditory, and verbal ability to perform all required duties. Preferred Qualifications At least 2 years of experience as a Director or Assistant Director (5+ years preferred). Master s degree in Early Childhood Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field. Demonstrated ability to integrate faith with educational leadership in a preschool setting. Primary Responsibilities 1. Ministry & Programming Lead staff in carrying out the vision and values of Restore Church within the preschool. Ensure curriculum and programming address children s spiritual, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Provide daily classroom presence and build meaningful relationships with staff, children, and families. Support teachers in student evaluation, conferences, and addressing individual needs. Monitor for child abuse/neglect concerns and follow mandatory reporting laws, communicating promptly with church leadership. 2. Staff Leadership & Supervision Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate preschool staff in alignment with church values and state requirements. Maintain accurate personnel files and ensure compliance with continuing education requirements. Provide ongoing coaching, support, and professional development opportunities. Plan and lead monthly staff meetings focused on curriculum, ministry vision, and professional growth. Serve as a mentor and spiritual leader to staff, fostering unity, excellence, and a Christ-centered culture. 3. Administrative Oversight Manage daily preschool operations in compliance with Restore Church values and state licensing standards. Oversee the Brightwheel Student Information System, including communications and attendance tracking. Maintain required state and preschool records (registrations, medical forms, incident reports, etc.). Coordinate preschool calendar with church activities and community events. Lead parent communications through newsletters, Brightwheel, email, and other media. Attend Restore Church staff meetings and provide updates regarding the preschool. 4. Financial Stewardship Partner with the Office Manager to prepare, manage, and operate within the annual preschool budget. Maintain accurate records of tuition, fees, purchases, and financial reporting for the Board. 5. Enrollment & Family Engagement Promote the preschool through advertising, tours, orientations, and community connections. Oversee the enrollment process, ensuring complete and accurate student files. Build strong relationships with parents/guardians, providing support and clear communication. Ensure families understand and adhere to preschool policies as outlined in the Sonshine Handbook.
