Full Job Description Primary Purpose:
Direct and manage the child care program and supervise district child care operations. Plan and implement a program that meets regulatory requirements for children and maintains a safe and sanitary environment. Plans, organizes, staffs, budgets and evaluates the child care program activities. Ensures high standards of quality are maintained based on effective early childcare practices.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Associates Degree in Child Development or minimum 5 years related working experience
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Three years licensed childcare working experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Displays sound judgement and demonstrates a working knowledge of and complies with state licensing regulations, center policies, the Owners and Executive Directors Protocols and Procedures, and other validating/credentialing agencies the program may choose to partner with. Demonstrates basic understanding of the developmental stages of children and can effectively model and promote positive social, emotional, cognitive, physical and creative learning behaviors and experiences, resulting in the individual growth and development of the children enrolled. Demonstrates supervisory skills necessary for planning, organizing and managing the daily operations of the child care program as they apply to the health, safety and welfare, ongoing development, and individual respect of each child. Complies with Federal and State law, DFPS minimum standards, and center policy Ensures safety standards confirm with federal, state, and insurance regulations by adhering to a program of preventive safety. Maintains physical health needed for the job's performance requirements. Communicates effectively in writing and verbally with parents, children, staff and outside agencies. Maintains confidentiality. Demonstrates effective time management skills in all areas of job responsibilities. Makes decisions that are fair and equitable and produce positive results. Interacts with a variety of people in a courteous and effective manner. Acknowledges staff and parent comments and concerns and deals with them in a timely manner. Recruits, trains and supervises personnel and makes sound recommendations about personnel placement, transfer, retention and dismissal. Monitors and assesses staff with discipline procedures appropriate for child care program. Evaluates job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness. Conducts routine staff meetings, encouraging staff to actively participate. Assures that the child care program has adequate supplies, for example food consumables, educational materials, etc. Reconciles attendance records and payroll documents in keeping with center guidelines and timelines to process child care payroll. Compiles, maintains and files all reports, records and other documents required in child care program and completes them in an accurate and timely manner. Develops training options and improvement plans to ensure exemplary operation in the child care program. Conducts enrollment for the child care program. Handles emergency situations in a calm and professional manner. Attends professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovative techniques in child care operations. Performs other duties as assigned.
