Preschool Teacher

Employee Basic Requirements Hours for this position working with 3-5 year olds are Monday -Thursday 7:45-3:45; Fridays 7:45-2:00, year-round. Minimum requirements include high school graduation or G.E.D. and some experience working with young children. Bachelor's degree or certificate in early childhood education preferred. Applicants must be residents of the U.S. and authorized to work legally in the U.S. Working with preschool children at Girassol requires the following:

Seeing:

To observe the children at all times; to read instructions.

Talking/Hearing:

To communicate with children, parents/guardians, other staff members, and supervisor.

Writing:

To document children's behavior, progress, etc.

Standing and walking:

To supervise children, direct activities, and move throughout the classrooms and outdoors; to walk up and down stairs.

Crouching and kneeling:

To work with and communicate with children at their level and to keep classroom tidy.

Reaching:

To retrieve needed supplies and work with children.

Lifting:

To pick up children when needed and move supplies and equipment.

Pulling/pushing:

To open/close doors, drawers, and cabinets. Before new employees interact with children at Girassol, the following is required: Completed employment application 3 letters of reference Fingerprinting Criminal background check with at least provisional clearance. Documentation must be received by the State Child Care Licensing Department within 14 days of start date. Employees must also obtain current certification in CPR, First Aid, and SIDS/SBS, and they are required to complete some in-service training each calendar year. Failure to maintain certification or complete training may be grounds for dismissal. Girassol Learning Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
