Non-Exempt Job Goal:
To assist the Pre-K Teacher to foster learning, growth and development and Kindergarten Readiness, for each child through the use of high quality, developmentally appropriate instruction and ongoing assessments.Minimum Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent (GED) and academic competency in basic skills Must possess a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or at least 9 credit hours of college work in the field of Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a regionally accredited institution Must obtain a criminal history background clearance and meet the suitability criteria for employment under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457Skills and Physical Abilities:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly required to speak, listen walk, stand, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display. May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, ability to focus, and peripheral vision.Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Maintain security and confidentiality of all student and staff personally identifiable information in regards to outlined requirements in Board policy, Blount County Security Use Agreement, Responsible Use Policy, FERPA and any and all state and federal laws and statues. Participate in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning and Assist with conducting learning experiences for students in a variety of individual and small group activities (e.g., math groups, science experiments, reading, behavioral skills, daily living skills, writing, verbal skills, sensory room activities, social skills training) and enhancing opportunities for all students to succeed. Maintain materials for the purpose of ensuring students are prepared for instruction. Perform record keeping, data collection and entry as well as clerical functions (e.g. checking papers, maintain daily logs, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher in providing necessary records/materials. Respond to emergency situations (e.g., students that are: running, fighting, displaying inappropriate behavior, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. Assist in preparing class displays and bulletin boards. Assist in caring for and securing classroom equipment and supplies. Assist the teacher in duties relating to supervision of playground, cafeteria, and student transportation, clean-up routines, preparation for conferences and other similar activities. Alert the teacher to special needs of individual students and assists students as needed. Respect confidentiality with regard to student performance and records. Perform unique functions as may be related to the instruction of students Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school. Be regular and punctual in attendance. Maintain proper and professional relationships with students and other employees. Perform duties in a manner that will promote good public relations. Assume other duties as assigned by supervisor.Terms of employment:
187-days Daily work schedule will be determined by the principal or his/her designee for the necessary operations of the school assigned. Work assignments and schedules are subject to change.Salary:
