Daycare Teacher

JOB FUNCTION

The Daycare Teacher will maintain a safe and encouraging environment. Providing opportunities of age appropriate intellectual and social growth. Teachers will follow provided curriculum and daily schedules to facilitate activities and learning opportunities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a high school diploma or GED Must be at least 19 years of age Must undergo a criminal background check through Alabama Department of Public Safety and "cleared" by the Alabama Department of Human Resources Strong Christian Faith and commitment to Christian education, reflecting God's love through words, actions, and attitude

PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1 year of instructional, daycare, caregiving, or customer service experience Knowledge of child development principles CPR certification

SPECIFICATIONS

Shifts may be full time/part-time/ or floater. Pay rate is $11.00 hourly. Our facility is open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision/Safety Maintain constant, active supervision Keep classroom clean, organized and free of hazards Follow all safety and sanitation procedures for diapering, feeding, and play Exhibits a thorough understanding of emergency response protocols Keeps all bottles, cups, and bedding properly clean and labeled Relationships/Nurture Strives to build strong, loving, and trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff by exhibiting friendliness, dignity and grace Offers comfort, encouragement, and reassurance during transitions and challenges Create and maintain a consistent environment to help children feel secure Respect individual developmental differences and celebrate each milestone Routine/Care Follow the daily schedule and routine for meals, nap, and activities while remaining flexible enough to attend to students individual needs Maintain accurate communication logs for parents (meals, naps, diapers, mood/behavior) Support basic self help skills Learning/Development Facilitate hands-on activities that support discovery and creativity Foster language development through interaction, songs, and daily readings Support fine motor and gross motor play Observe, document, and share each child's growth and development Social/Emotional Help children identify and express emotions appropriately Speak respectfully and use positive re-direction Model the character of the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control Professionalism/ Teamwork Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage Communicate respectfully and work cooperatively with coworkers, parents, and administrators Attend staff development meetings as required Maintain confidentiality and represent the daycares mission with integrity Demonstrate a Christ-like attitude of love, patience, and grace in all interactions
