JOB TITLE
INFANT/TODDLER TEACHER Position Summary:
The Early Childcare Teacher supports the development of infants and toddlers through everyday interactions using the Creative Curriculum. Each Early Head Start Classroom consists of two co-teachers who work under the direction of the Site Supervisor. Teachers are provided with training on the Creative curriculum. The Teacher must communicate well and frequently with parents, as well as colleagues, and administration.
Job Specific Responsibilities:
Plan and implement daily classroom activities and events through careful observation and planning for each child's development. Ensures and creates a positive learning environment guided by Joy's Children's Learning Center philosophies, policies, and curriculum. Maintains a nurturing, calm, and positive atmosphere. Assumes all responsibilities for communicating with parents. Collaborates with colleagues and administration. Ensures that all state and local requirements are met for the supervision of the children at the facility. Complete all classroom assessments such as ASQ scoring and DRDP. Prepare for parent/teacher conferences and open house. Updates and maintains information in a timely communication with parents and record keeping. Make judicious use of the budget provided for class needs, ensuring that the environment is properly equipped and organized to meet the children's needs. Train onboarding Teachers to care for the environment, care for the storage of materials, work with the children, and to support the Lead Teacher. Attend scheduled monthly meetings, staff meetings, and other meetings identified. Perform a minimum of 2 school conferences and 2 home visits per child per year. Develop curriculum activities that reflect the ethnic/multi-cultural makeup of the community. Maintaining compliance with child care licensing and Health and Human Services regulations. Exhibiting a desire for personal and professional growth and skill development. Must be able to attend ongoing trainings and events within the facility and outside of the facility. Teachers must be able to travel to trainings as needed. Use the DRDP tool to support the strengths and areas of growth for each child. Head Start/Early Head Start Teachers will comply with all head start policies and procedures. Understand and perform all Title 22, Title 5, Caring for Our Children and all ECE best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
Must have minimally a Teacher Permit issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing The Lead Teacher must have at least three to five years of experience working with Infants and toddlers age children in a classroom environment and 24 Early Childhood Development units with at least 3 ECE Units of Infant/Toddler Care. High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. The Early Head Start Teacher must be able to demonstrate effective ongoing classroom skills and strong communication skills. The teacher must also possess the skills and ability to manage and direct other teaching staff in the classroom. Must provide proof of a CTC Teacher Permit or higher. Proof of criminal record background check. Up to date immunization records, physical, and TB clearance every 2 years. First Aide CPR every 2 years. Review operational policy and procedures yearly or as needed. Must be able to administer written weekly curriculum
Other Considerations:
The teacher must be able to perform light physical work and have the ability to lift and carry children weighing approximately 14 to 30 pounds. The teacher will be required to bend, crouch, lift, kneel and other physical activities as they address the needs of the student. Teacher must have the ability to be physically active with the children. The person in this position is responsible for maintaining performance under pressure, and handling stress in a manner that is acceptable to others and to the organization. Working conditions should be free from unpleasant environment conditions. This teacher contract is only available to Early Head Start Teachers. If the teacher decides not to fulfill the Early Head Start Teacher requirements, the contract will be null and void.
