Early Childhood Education Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Infant Teacher, under the guidance of the Director (Executive Director), aids in the cognitive and social development of preschoolers. Working with children from eighteen months (18 months) to thirty-six months (36 months), the Infant Teacher must impart and effectively communicate the most basic social skills focusing on play-centered learning and creativity, provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for infants and toddlers, and will use age-appropriate teaching and learning strategies to create an environment that promotes early learning as well as social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.Duties and Responsibilities:
Reports to the assigned schedule on time. Develops and implements curriculum that meets the emotional, cognitive, physical, and social needs of infants and toddlers in his/her class. Reviews each child's files and/or information in his/her class and is informed and knowledgeable about their medical and developmental histories. Identifies any physical or mental development concerns. Performs diaper changes and ensures changing tables are clean at all times. Supervises and cares for infants and toddlers, including diaper changes and meal preparation. Maintains meal, nap, and diaper changes logs. Foster a positive and supportive learning atmosphere. Ensures, supports, and enforces safety for all children including parents, teachers, and staff. Supports and implements daily schedules, tasks, routines, and activities as directed by the Director. If breakdown in schedules, routines, tasks, activities, and/or procedures occurs, is responsible for filling in until he/she is able to meet with appropriate staff members to correct these. Supervises the Assistant Infant Teacher / Infant Aide. Develops and maintains communication with parents in their respective programs through emails, or through direct communication; speaks and listens to parents with respect. Maintains legal ratios as required by licensing and as directed by the Director. Reports all issues and concerns with students and parents to the Director. Completes all required training courses (e.g. safety, professional development) on time as assigned by the Director / Executive Director and/or HR. Participates in collaboration meetings and in professional development activities. Performs other duties as assigned by theDirector Minimum Requirements:
Must have an AA Degree on Early Childhood Education or is able to obtain the AA Degree within two (2) years from the date of employment. Must have completed at least 3 unit(s) in ECE/CD related to the care of infants and toddlers or shall contain instructions specific to infants and toddlers (e.g. completed units in Infant/Toddler Development or Infant/Child Development). 3-5 years of relevant experience working with infants and toddlers plus including pertinent skills as it relates to child development: good written and verbal communication skills, creativity, emotional development, patience, classroom structure, and discipline. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices; able to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; patient, kind, creative, organized, enthusiastic, and energetic. Has a professional demeanor, a team player, flexible, and able to adjust to changing schedules and work situations. Must complete the following required training: Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment Prevention, Food Handling, CPR and First Aid.
