POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Lead Teacher to join our preschool team. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment while supporting the development and learning of young children. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, enjoys working with children, and is able to effectively lead a classroom while working collaboratively with staff and families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops and implements weekly lesson plans and age-appropriate curriculum that support children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Provides a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects children's learning, growth, and achievements. Conducts ongoing developmental assessments and evaluations as required by funding sources and adjust lesson plans to meet individual child needs. Plans, evaluates and improves the classroom environment on an ongoing basis to support the changing developmental needs of children. Provides responsive daily care by adapting routines and activities to the needs and interests of individual children and the group. Prepares developmental progress reports as required to document children's growth and development. Demonstrates cultural competency by incorporating children's cultural, linguistic, and family values into classroom activities and lesson planning. Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary intervention and prevention team as needed. Facilitates classroom transitions and orientation processes with parents and caregivers. Maintains ongoing, open communication with parents and caregivers regarding children's progress and needs. Encourages and supports parent participation by fostering a welcoming classroom environment. Schedules and conducts periodic parent conferences to discuss developmental progress, needs, and interests. Serves as a liaison between families and the program to support smooth transitions from home to classroom and between classrooms when necessary. Supports children and families during transitions from toddler to preschool and preschool to kindergarten. Maintains accurate, complete, and timely client and agency records. Completes daily meal and attendance records in accordance with program requirements.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

Must meet all State of California licensing requirements applicable to the position. Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience working as an instructor in a childcare center. Must have completed a minimum of 12 units in Child Development or Early Childhood Education. Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal. Current CPR and/or First Aid certification, or ability to obtain certification is required. Should have knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Must have strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills. Ability to work effectively with children, families, and staff in a professional and collaborative environment. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and in emergency situations, up to a 40-pound child.
