Primary Description:
The Preschool Teacher/Sub Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a developmentally appropriate program that nurtures children academically, socially, and spiritually. This role requires a heart for ministry and a commitment to providing a safe, Christ-centered environment.
Status:
Part-Time Lines of Accountability:
Preschool Director Ministry Responsibilities:
1.
Instructional & Spiritual Leadership Curriculum Development:
Create and implement lesson plans that foster academic, social-emotional, spiritual, and physical growth centered on Christian values.
Faith Integration:
Model Christian character and integrate biblical principles into daily activities and language experiences.
Creative Engagement:
Utilize imagination and a variety of materials to provide an enriching, hands-on learning environment. 2.
Student Assessment & Development Progress Tracking:
Regularly evaluate children's development; conduct formal biannual assessments for Pre-K students eligible for Kindergarten; communicate progress in annual parent conferences.
Individualized Care:
Recognize each child as a unique individual, treating their moods, abilities, and possessions with sensitivity and respect.
Behavioral Guidance:
Help children build confidence, navigate limitations, and develop healthy social habits through calm and controlled discipline and redirection. 3.
Safety, Supervision, & Environment Active Supervision:
Maintain constant visual and auditory supervision of all children at all times.
Note:
Per licensing requirements, leaving a child unsupervised is grounds for immediate dismissal.
Health & Wellness:
Teach proper health habits and maintain a current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification.
Classroom Stewardship:
Ensure a clean, inviting environment. Daily tasks include vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing toys, as well as seasonal deep cleaning. 4.
Communication & Collaboration Parent Partnership:
Keep families informed of their child's progress and any pertinent issues. Conduct formal Pre-K conferences in April.
Administrative Reporting:
Ensure the Director is informed of any concerns regarding children, families, or staff while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Professionalism:
Actively participate in monthly staff meetings and pursue ongoing professional development.
Requirements:
(Must meet one of the following):
Unit-Based:
12+ core semester units in Child Development, ECE, or Child, Family, and Community plus 6 months of experience (min. 3 hours/day for 50 days).
Credential-Based:
A valid Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential with appropriate age endorsement plus 6 months of experience.
Permit-Based:
A Child Development Associate Teacher, Teacher, or Master Teacher Permit.
Requirements Upon Hire:
Clearances:
Fingerprint/Background clearance and proof of employment eligibility.
Health:
Physical health screening, negative TB test, and proof of MMR/DTaP vaccines.
Certifications:
Pediatric CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain) and completion of free online Mandated Reporter and Germ Management training.
Pay:
$22.00 - $24.00 per hour
