Since 1947 we have been a play-based preschool that honors and values each child's individual interests and fosters natural growth and a safe learning environment. The staff at SMPNS follows a child centered curriculum and approaches each child as an individual who is competent and capable of fostering a lifelong love of learning. We are a co-op school that celebrates diversity in the community and we offer a homelike setting where children can explore freely, spread their wings and can discover who they are and what it means to be part of a community. Qualified Candidates must possess the following: Patient, kind, nurturing and flexible disposition Excellent with teamwork and collaboration A minimum of 12 ECE units, including core courses, but 24 ECE units is preferred Requires courses:

ECE 201, ECE 212, ECE 211 A.A.

degree or B.A. preferred Minimum one year of experience teaching in an ECE setting Strong knowledge in child-centered approach and play-based philosophy Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience with documenting each child's development Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a team of teachers Ability to effectively communicate with parents in a professional manner Committed to putting the interests of the school and children first Physical ability to move quickly around the classroom, getting up and down the off floor as well as lifting up heavy objects and children Must be able to change diapers Proficient in basic computer skills

Job Summary:

Monday through Friday; part-time between 18 - 30 hours a week, with flexibility within the hours of 8:30am - 5:15pm.
