At SMCC, we spend a significant portion of each day outdoors, where children explore, discover, and build a lifelong curiosity about the natural world through meaningful, hands-on learning experiences. Our play-based approach fosters confidence, creativity, independence, and a love of learning in a nurturing environment. Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to create and implement a developmentally appropriate, environmentally conscious curriculum.
- Foster curiosity, exploration, and value-based learning in a nurturing environment.
- Participate in 21 hours of professional development each year to expand your knowledge of Early Childhood Education (ECE), outdoor classroom practices, and social-emotional development.
- Demonstrate punctuality, flexibility, dependability, and a positive, collaborative attitude as a valued member of our teaching team. Qualifications
- Meet California state requirements for a Preschool Teacher (minimum of 12 ECE units).
- Support and appreciate a value-based educational approach.
- Demonstrate curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring diverse ecosystems and embracing an outdoor classroom philosophy.
- Clearly articulate and support the mission and objectives of Santa Margarita Children's Center.
- Possess a warm, caring personality with a genuine love for children and learning.
- Respect and value diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures.
- Be physically and emotionally capable of meeting the demands of an active outdoor learning environment.
- Be committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming learning community.
