Job Description

Job Overview Glenwood Grove Early Learning is a licensed family child care home in Scotts Valley, CA (License #444418123), serving infants and preschoolers in a small, intentional program. We are seeking a Lead Teacher ready to help build a program from the ground up, not inherit an old one. We believe children grow best when structure and play are both honored: teacher-led mornings with circle time, early literacy, art, and sensory work, and child-led afternoons with outdoor play, dramatic play, and open exploration. Group sizes are small by design, so you will actually know every child and every family. Compensation is tiered from $27 to $30 per hour based on enrollment: as the program grows, so do your responsibilities and your pay. You will have real autonomy over curriculum, classroom setup, and daily routines, and you will help hire and select assistant teachers as we grow.
Responsibilities Lead the daily program:
circle time, structured morning curriculum, and the rhythm of the day Shape the program itself: curriculum choices, classroom setup, and daily routines are yours to build with us Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities across early literacy, numeracy, art, sensory play, and gross-motor development for ages 6 months to 5 years Provide attentive infant care, including feeding, napping, and individualized routines Maintain a safe, inclusive environment and follow all licensing, health, and safety protocols Communicate with families through Brightwheel (photos, daily reports) and daily conversations at pickup and drop-off Help interview and select assistant teachers as the program grows Partner directly with the owner family, who are on site daily Requirements 2+ years of professional experience in a preschool or infant care environment (required) Direct infant care experience strongly preferred; our first year will be infant-heavy Efficient and effective with young children: we are a small team where every teacher owns their room, manages transitions smoothly, and works independently CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain before start Must clear a Live Scan background check, TB test, and required immunizations Familiarity with mandated reporting responsibilities for child safety Strong communication skills with families, children, and colleagues Someone who has opinions about how early childhood education should be done, and wants a place to put them into practice Join us as our Lead Teacher and help define what Glenwood Grove becomes.
