About Us Glenwood Grove Early Learning is a recently opened in-home pre-school in Scotts Valley. We are a small, intentional program serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in an intimate home environment. We blend structured morning curriculum with open afternoon exploration — and the afternoon is where you come in. We are looking for two part-time Preschool Teachers to cover our afternoon program. You will work on a rotating schedule with one other afternoon teacher, each covering approximately 10 to 20 hours per week depending on scheduling and program needs. The Role As an afternoon Preschool Teacher at Glenwood Grove Early Learning, you will lead the second half of our daily program. The afternoon is intentionally open and child-led — free play, creative exploration, outdoor time, and warm family handoffs at the end of the day.
You will be responsible for:
Supervising and engaging with infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children during afternoon free play and exploration Creating a calm, safe, and nurturing environment during nap and rest time Handling post-nap routines including diaper changes, snack, and gradual wake-up Maintaining daily documentation in Brightwheel including photos, activities, and pickup notes Greeting families warmly at pickup and communicating highlights from the afternoon Supporting a smooth transition from the morning program Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming program space About the Afternoon Program Our afternoon runs from 12:30pm to 5:30pm. The pace is intentionally relaxed — nap time runs until roughly 2:30pm, followed by snack, open play, outdoor time, and a gradual pickup window from 4:00pm onward. You do not need to lead structured curriculum. What you do need is genuine warmth with children, good judgment, and the ability to make families feel confident and welcome at the end of their workday. Schedule and Compensation We are hiring two afternoon teachers who will share coverage of the 12:30pm to 5:30pm shift on a rotating schedule. Each position offers approximately 10 to 20 hours per week depending on scheduling and program needs.

12:30pm to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday (days vary by schedule)
Compensation:
Starting at $25 per hour with room to grow as the program expands No evenings, no weekends Paid 10-minute rest break each shift Follows the Scotts Valley Unified School District calendar — all district holidays, winter break, spring break, and major holidays off, plus one additional summer week closure Referral Bonus We offer a $300 referral bonus for any family you refer who enrolls in our program. The bonus is paid in two installments of $150 — one after the referred family completes their first full month, and one after their second full month. There is no limit on the number of qualifying referrals.
What We Are Looking For Required:
Prior experience working with young children in a childcare, school, or licensed program setting Reliability and consistency — families count on a familiar face at pickup Genuine warmth and patience with children of all ages including infants Strong communication skills with families CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain before start date Mandated reporter training, or willingness to complete before start date Current immunizations including Tdap, MMR, Varicella, and Hepatitis B Live Scan background clearance Preferred but not required: Experience in a licensed family child care home or small group setting Familiarity with Brightwheel or similar childcare documentation platforms Experience with infants and toddlers Why Glenwood Grove This is a genuinely flexible part-time role in a warm, home-based setting with a small group of children.
