Fall 2026, with possible summer camp opportunities Sol Coast Academy is looking for a thoughtful, experienced teacher to help guide our Montessori and Waldorf-inspired early childhood program in Solana Beach. We are building a warm, intentional learning environment rooted in independence, creativity, nature, mindfulness, practical life skills, and whole-child development. Our program is designed for families looking for a calm, hands-on, no-tech learning experience where children feel safe, curious, capable, and connected. We are looking for someone who understands the beauty of early childhood and can hold a peaceful, structured, nurturing space for young children to grow, and who isn't afraid to About the Role The Montessori & Waldorf-Inspired Teacher will help lead daily rhythms, guide hands-on learning experiences, support social-emotional development, and create a classroom environment that feels warm, beautiful, calm, and purposeful. This role is ideal for someone who loves working with children ages 2-3 and has experience with Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio, nature-based learning, or other holistic early childhood approaches. Responsibilities Create and maintain a calm, beautiful, prepared classroom environment. Guide children through Montessori-inspired practical life, sensory, early literacy, math, art, and independent work. Support Waldorf-inspired rhythms including storytelling, seasonal crafts, nature exploration, music, movement, and imaginative play. Create activities from printouts, hands on creation and recycled items. Lead or support daily circle time, mindful moments, outdoor play, snack, transitions, and rest time. Encourage independence, confidence, curiosity, respectful communication, and care for self, others, and the environment. Observe children thoughtfully and support each child's individual development. Help prepare materials, classroom setup, art projects, nature activities, and seasonal learning experiences, and cleanup. Support social-emotional learning through gentle guidance, conflict resolution, and connection. Communicate with families in a warm, professional, and grounded way. Work collaboratively with Sol Coast Academy leadership and other teachers to create a consistent and meaningful experience for children. Ideal Candidate Has experience teaching or assisting in a Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio, nature-based, homeschool, or holistic early childhood setting. Understands child-led learning while also valuing rhythm, structure, and consistency. Feels confident supporting children ages 3-6. Has a calm, grounded, warm presence. Values low-tech, hands-on, experiential learning. Enjoys nature, art, storytelling, music, movement, practical life, and creative projects. Can create a peaceful environment while still holding clear boundaries. Communicates kindly and clearly with children, parents, and team members. Is reliable, flexible, collaborative, and excited to help build a new program. Preferred Qualifications Montessori training or classroom experience. Waldorf training or experience with Waldorf-inspired early childhood rhythms. Early Childhood Education units or degree preferred. Experience with mixed-age classrooms. CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain. Background check and required childcare clearances. Experience with outdoor education, mindfulness, art, music, or nature-based curriculum is a plus.
