The Gathering Place Childcare Worker Reports To:

Part-time, times and days vary FLSA non-exempt
Job Summary:
To provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care to children attending Sunday morning worship, events, activities or classes at The Gathering Place/First United for ages 0-12. The Gathering Place is a new worshipping community of First United in the LPGA area of Daytona Beach. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Short-term on-the-job training Prior experience working with children(preferred) Knowledge English Language Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Public Safety and Security Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to protect children under your care and supervision. Job Description Maintain a safe play environment. Assist with setup and tear down as directed. Observe and monitor children's play activities. Communicate with child's parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues. Support child's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts. Sanitize toys and play equipment. Dress children and change diapers. Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring them to parents' or guardians' attention. Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas. Read to children and teach them simple painting, drawing, handicrafts, and songs. Assist in preparing food and serving meals and refreshments to children. Discipline children and recommend or initiate other measures to control behavior, such as caring for own clothing and picking up toys and books according to First United policies and procedures. Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which includes: feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, holding or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play and prayer. Stay until the children are secured with a responsible adult named on the child's registration form. Administer first aid and contact church staff/emergency response in the event of injury. Understanding of and strict adherence to, First United Child and Youth Protection Policies.
