Job Description

What expectations will I serve as an Atelierista? An Atelierista is an educator with a background in the arts, who works together with students in the atelier (studio). The atelier and atelierista are integral parts of the Reggio Emilia approach. Together, the Atelier and Atelierista will often embark on long-term projects and experiment with a variety of creative mediums. The atelier is a learning space and shared environment where students can express themselves through "The Hundred Languages". This could be through singing, drawing, dancing, clay or natural materials. "The Hundred Languages" represents the infinite potential where students can express their learnings, feelings and ways in which they comprehend the world. Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Ensure the safety and supervision of students, aged from 6 weeks - 10 years in one assigned educational environment. Create years worth of Artist of the Month Studies with lessons/activities for all ages Observe, listen, document and reflect Be alert and aware to witness the students discoveries Maintain a warm, safe, and homey environment that is clean and allows for students to grow, engage, and explore. Partner with Lead Educators and families to create plans to provide the best care and education for their student(s). Partner with Educators to create documentation displays throughout the school Provide effective communication with parents/guardians about their student(s) through the use of our communication app as well as conversations during drop off and pick up times. Attend Educator Meetings outside of work hours. Observe and document students abilities within the educational environment through documentation like learning stories Attend ongoing training to meet and keep educational regulations up to date. Overtime may be required from time to time, along with evening and weekend hours. Plan for, coordinate and take lead of Palms School Wide Spring Art Exhibit Other duties as assigned. 45 state-mandated training hours Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education/related field OR Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (preferred) 1+ years of experience in a licensed child care facility (preferred) If previously employed in child care, state-mandated annual hours must be up to date Strong customer service skills Ability to multitask and remain organized Ability to work within regular operating hours Must meet state criteria for child care employment First Aid/CPR certification (preferred) No pending or past arrest record Reliable transportation Must be able to kneel, squat, stoop, lift.
