Job Description

VPK Lead Teacher Little Angels Preschool - Mary Esther, FL Position Summary Little Angels Preschool is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic VPK Lead Teacher to provide a high-quality preschool experience for children preparing for kindergarten. The VPK Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing engaging lessons, fostering a positive classroom environment, monitoring student progress, and ensuring compliance with Florida VPK standards. Our ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, values strong relationships with families, and is committed to helping children develop academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Schedule Monday-Friday Approximately 30-32 hours per week Typical work hours: 8:30 AM-3:15 PM August-May school year (follows the Okaloosa County School District calendar) Responsibilities Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with Florida VPK standards. Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment. Prepare children for kindergarten readiness in literacy, math, science, social studies, and social-emotional skills. Complete required VPK assessments and documentation, including progress monitoring and student portfolios. Maintain accurate attendance and classroom records. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities. Manage classroom behavior using positive guidance techniques. Collaborate with assistants, floaters, and administration to support student success. Supervise children during classroom, playground, and special activities. Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment. Participate in staff meetings, training opportunities, and school events. Incorporate faith-based values and character development into daily classroom experiences. Qualifications Applicants must meet Florida VPK Lead Teacher requirements and possess one of the following: Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC/CDA) with the VPK Endorsement, OR Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a related field.
Additional requirements:
Ability to pass Level 2 Background Screening. Completion of required DCF training and continuing education requirements. Previous preschool or VPK teaching experience preferred. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Desired Qualities Passion for early childhood education. Patient, positive, and nurturing demeanor. Strong leadership and classroom management skills. Dependable and professional. Creative and enthusiastic about hands-on learning.
