The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing daily learning experiences, maintaining classroom management, supporting children's developmental growth, and ensuring compliance with all Bright Minds Academy policies, procedures, and Florida childcare regulations. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a licensed childcare setting and demonstrate a passion for helping young children learn, grow, and succeed. Lead Teachers are expected to serve as positive role models, maintain professionalism, and contribute to a culture of excellence throughout the academy. At Bright Minds Academy, Lead Teachers are expected to create warm, engaging classrooms where children feel safe, loved, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Classroom Management and Instruction Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with Bright Minds Academy's curriculum and educational goals. Create a nurturing, engaging, and structured classroom environment that promotes learning through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences. Support children's cognitive, social-emotional, language, physical, and creative development. Foster independence, self-help skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in young learners. Maintain active supervision of children at all times. Utilize positive guidance, redirection, and age-appropriate behavior management strategies. Maintain classroom schedules, routines, and transitions that support children's success. Ensure all classroom activities are developmentally appropriate and inclusive. Child Assessment and Documentation Observe and document children's developmental progress and learning milestones. Complete daily reports, attendance records, incident reports, accident reports, and classroom documentation through Procare. Maintain accurate and confidential records for all children. Communicate children's daily activities, meals, naps, developmental progress, and classroom experiences with families. Report developmental concerns, behavioral concerns, or safety concerns to administration when necessary. Family Engagement and Communication Build positive and professional relationships with families. Communicate respectfully and consistently with parents regarding their child's progress and needs. Participate in parent conferences, family engagement events, and academy activities as requested. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and academy operations. Represent Bright Minds Academy in a positive and professional manner at all times. Health, Safety, and Nutrition Follow all Bright Minds Academy policies, DCF regulations, and health and safety standards. Conduct daily health observations and maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized classroom environment. Assist with serving breakfast, AM snack, lunch, and PM snack while following food safety and sanitation guidelines. Ensure proper handwashing, diapering, toileting, and sanitation procedures are followed at all times. Maintain compliance with classroom ratios and supervision requirements. Respond appropriately to emergencies, accidents, illnesses, and incidents according to academy procedures. Ensure all children are supervised during indoor play, outdoor play, meals, rest time, and transitions. Team Leadership and Professionalism Provide support, guidance, and mentorship to Assistant Teachers and classroom aides. Collaborate with administration and fellow staff members to ensure consistency and excellence throughout the academy. Attend all required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities. Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic. Support the mission, vision, and values of Bright Minds Academy. Assist with classroom opening and closing procedures as assigned. Technology and Documentation Utilize Procare daily for attendance tracking, parent communication, daily reports, classroom messaging, and documentation. Maintain accurate electronic records and documentation in accordance with academy policies. Ensure all required paperwork and reports are submitted in a timely manner. Classroom Care and Organization Maintain classroom inventory and report supply needs promptly. Ensure toys, learning materials, furniture, and equipment remain clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate. Assist with classroom setup, cleaning, organization, and end-of-day responsibilities. Promote a welcoming and visually appealing classroom environment. Emergency Preparedness and Compliance Participate in fire drills, severe weather drills, lockdown drills, and emergency preparedness training. Understand and follow all Bright Minds Academy emergency procedures. Maintain compliance with all DCF regulations, academy policies, and future accreditation standards if applicable. Immediately report licensing concerns, safety concerns, or incidents to administration. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of one (1) year experience working in a licensed childcare center, preschool, daycare, or early learning environment. Must successfully pass a Level 2 Background Screening prior to employment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Must meet all Florida DCF childcare employment requirements. Must complete the required 45 DCF training hours within the first year of employment if not already completed. Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within ninety (90) days of hire. Must complete Bright Minds Academy orientation before working independently in a classroom. Strong knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills. Ability to lift, carry, and actively engage with young children throughout the day. Preferred Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential. Florida Staff Credential. CPR and First Aid Certification at the time of hire. Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field. Additional coursework, certifications, or training in Early Childhood Education. Attendance and Reliability Expectations Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality. Arrive prepared and ready to begin work at the scheduled start time. Follow academy call-out procedures for absences and tardiness. Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and professionalism in all assigned duties. Professional Standards Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children, families, staff, and academy operations. Refrain from personal cell phone use during working hours except for emergencies or approved work-related purposes. Maintain professional communication with families, staff members, and visitors at all times. Adhere to Bright Minds Academy dress code and appearance standards. Demonstrate integrity, respect, teamwork, and professionalism in daily interactions. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to sit, bend, kneel, squat, and stand for extended periods. Ability to actively participate in indoor and outdoor activities with children. Ability to move quickly and respond appropriately during emergencies. Ability to supervise children both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Age Groups Served Bright Minds Academy currently serves children ages 1 through 4 years old. Infant classrooms may be added in the future. Teachers must be flexible and willing to work with different age groups as assigned by administration.
