Full-Time Position Summary The Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment that promotes children's social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development. The teacher will implement curriculum aligned with Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS), maintain compliance with Bright from the Start (DECAL) licensing regulations, and actively support the program's Quality Rated initiatives. Essential ResponsibilitiesCurriculum & Instruction Develop and implement weekly lesson plans aligned with the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS). Provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences using developmentally appropriate practices. Foster school readiness through literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, creative arts, and social-emotional learning. Differentiate instruction to meet the individual developmental needs of each child. Integrate positive guidance techniques throughout daily routines. Classroom Management Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and inviting classroom environment. Arrange learning centers that encourage exploration and independent learning. Ensure classroom materials are age appropriate and accessible. Maintain classroom ratios and active supervision at all times. Conduct daily health and safety checks. Child Assessment Observe and document children's developmental progress. Complete developmental assessments as required by the center and Quality Rated. Maintain accurate portfolios and anecdotal records. Utilize assessment data to guide instructional planning. Family Engagement Build positive relationships with families. Communicate children's progress regularly. Participate in parent conferences and family engagement activities. Maintain confidentiality regarding all children and families. Health & Safety Follow Bright from the Start licensing regulations. Maintain CPR, First Aid, and required health and safety certifications. Practice proper sanitation, handwashing, diapering, toileting, and food safety procedures. Respond appropriately to emergencies following center procedures. Report suspected child abuse or neglect immediately according to Georgia law. Quality Rated Responsibilities Support continuous quality improvement initiatives. Participate in Quality Rated observations and assessments. Maintain documentation required for Quality Rated. Participate in ongoing professional development. Implement best practices in classroom interactions and instructional support. Maintain classroom environments that meet ECERS/ITERS or CLASS expectations. Professional Responsibilities Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development. Complete required annual Bright from the Start training hours. Maintain professional appearance and punctuality. Demonstrate teamwork and professionalism. Model ethical behavior and maintain confidentiality. Perform additional duties assigned by the Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education One of the following: Child Development Associate (CDA) Technical Certificate in Early Childhood Education Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred) Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred) Experience Minimum one year experience working in a licensed childcare setting preferred. Experience implementing GELDS preferred. Experience with Quality Rated standards preferred.
