Preschool Readiness Teacher - Help Build Something New Elkader Childcare & Learning Center | Elkader, IA We are seeking a passionate, motivated Preschool Readiness Teacher to help launch and lead a new 3-year-old preschool program for the 2026-2027 school year. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of building a program from the ground up—one focused on quality, consistency, and meaningful early learning experiences. About the Opportunity This is not just a classroom role—it is a chance to help shape the foundation of a new preschool program. You will have the ability to develop curriculum, establish routines, and build a classroom culture that supports both children and families. This position is intentionally focused on teaching and program development so you can fully invest your time and energy into creating a high-quality learning environment. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement a preschool readiness curriculum for 3-year-olds Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment Build strong, positive relationships with children and families Maintain clear and consistent communication with families and leadership Submit monthly classroom reports and newsletters Provide weekly updates to families on classroom activities Contribute to center-wide communication efforts Qualifications Experience in early childhood education preferred Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for preschool-aged children Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills Ability to work independently and take initiative in building a program Passion for early childhood education and commitment to quality care Must meet Iowa DHS requirements, including: 8 hours of approved in-service training annually CPR & First Aid certification Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter Training Physical exam and required background checks Ongoing compliance with all state training and licensing requirements Required Meetings & Events (Paid) Classroom setup and preparation (August) Registration Night Parent-Teacher Conferences (minimum once annually) Monthly staff meetings What We Offer Opportunity to help build a new program from the ground up A supportive and engaged Board The ability to focus solely on teaching and curriculum development A meaningful role shaping early learning in the community Wage increases based on performance and program growth
