QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in related field; AA/AS degree in related field with 1-2 years of experience working in a child care center; or commiserate experience including supervisory duties in a child care setting. A child development associate credential is preferred. Complete CPR, First Aid and mandatory reporting within set deadline. Obtain a minimum score of 75 in a combination of education, experience, and related trainings per the DHS guidelines. Experience in creating and implementing early childhood education curriculum.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Lead Teacher is responsible for the care, safety, and education of all children in the classroom.

SCOPE OF THE POSITION

This full-time, non-exempt position is responsible for fostering the development of program participants, providing professional leadership to daycare staff, and for management of quality service provision through the following areas: Ensure all children are safe, supervised and accounted for at all times. Conduct and track periodic evaluation of developmental milestones. Develop and implement classroom curriculum. Follow a clear and consistent daily routine or schedule. Communicate with parents daily, both verbally and through the written activity sheets. Ensure classroom setup is stimulating, clean, and meets all state regulations. Complete all necessary paperwork accurately, this includes but is not limited to, state nutrition forms, attendance records, and incident reports. Orient and train new staff on developmentally appropriate practices and daily operational procedures. Team with the Center Director and Site Supervisor in supervising staff and volunteers in your classroom giving positive and appropriate feedback on their performance. Perform general care giving duties including, but not limited to, diapering/toileting, hand washing, serving meals, assisting on field trips, etc. Perform general housekeeping duties including, but not limited to, taking out the garbage, sweeping, vacuuming, and sanitizing toys. Demonstrate dependability by working scheduled hours. Remain current on all required trainings and complete all needed certifications. Maintain high personal and professional ethics as they relate to working for and with children and persons with disabilities and their families, agencies, and providers involved in the program.
