POSITION SUMMARY

Assists in the implementation of an early childhood preschool program by providing a safe learning environment for children through a structure conducive to young children's learning.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred First Aid and CPR certification obtainable upon hire

EXPERIENCE

One year of successful experience working with preschool children and their parents

Demonstrates sensitivity to the social and emotional needs of young children. Promotes positive self-concept in children. Shows a willingness to integrate special needs children into the preschool program. Displays enthusiasm, flexibility, and understanding in motivating young children. Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills with children, staff, and parents. Ability to work with culturally diverse family structures and styles.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

PROFESSIONAL

Assists with the implementation of a quality preschool program for young children. Participates in training opportunities as required. Participates in parent programming as required, such as parent conferences and parent meetings. Located at assigned elementary school or community facility. District-wide as requested for supervision and professional meetings. Personal contacts with participants and parents, community education staff, school professional and support staff, Community groups and volunteers Provide supervision of participants Perform other duties as required by the Preschool Coordinator and/or Early Childhood Coordinator.

Work Hours:

Tuesday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 Monday/month (12-4)
