The Preschool Teacher creates a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports early academic, social, and behavioral development. This role focuses on preparing students for a successful transition to kindergarten by building foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, and social-emotional development. This position serves within an inclusive preschool setting and is one of two preschool teachers working collaboratively within the program, supporting the needs of both general education preschool students and students with special education needs.Essential Functions:
Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate, early childhood standards-aligned lessons using play-based and hands-on learning Teach foundational academic, social, and behavioral skills Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs, including general and special education learners Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment Establish consistent routines, clear expectations, and effective classroom management Monitor, assess, and document student progress; adjust instruction accordingly Support social-emotional development, including cooperation and self-regulation Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs Collaborate with paraprofessionals, special education staff, and grade-level teams Participate in conferences, meetings, professional development, and school events Ensure compliance with district, health, safety, and licensing requirements Supervise students at all times, including during transitions, recess, and meals Requirements Education and Licensure Valid Iowa Teaching LicenseRequired Endorsements:
PK-3 Teacher, PK-3 Classroom - 106 & PK-3 Birth through grade three, Inclusive Settings - 1001 Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices Ability to deliver engaging, differentiated instruction in an inclusive setting Strong classroom management with consistent routines and expectations Skill in assessing student progress and adjusting instruction Strong communication and relationship-building with students, families, and staff Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and team members Demonstrates commitment to professional growthPhysical Demands & Work Environment:
Primarily indoor classroom environment, daily outdoor recess/activities Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds Active classroom movement (standing, walking, engaging with students) Support & Compensation The successful candidate will be supported by building administration, district leadership, and a team of dedicated colleagues through collaboration and mentoring.
