All God's Children Preschool and Childcare Child Care Assistant Teacher Job Description Position:
Child Care Assistant Teacher Position Summary:
The Childcare Assistant will assist in the childcare program for preschoolers, ages 3-4. The Childcare Assistant is responsible for helping the Lead Childcare Teacher create a safe environment and implement developmentally appropriate play activities for children. Childcare Assistant reports to the Childcare Lead Teacher.
Position Qualifications:
Candidate must have knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for children. Candidate must relate well to children, parents, and other staff members.
Curriculum Responsibilities:
  • Take direction from the Lead Teacher when creating and implementing activities.
  • Assist with hands-on play activities that will accommodate various learning styles.
  • Promote Christian values through modeling/direct teaching in daily situations that provide "teachable moments".
  • Provide activities to stimulate cognitive, social, emotional, spiritual and physical development. Parent/Child Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Stay engaged with the children; play with them, talk with them, sing with them
  • Communicate daily with parents, as appropriate.
  • Handle discipline promptly and in accordance with AGC policy, as written in the Parent Handbook.
  • Document major issues and confer with Childcare Lead Teacher, as appropriate.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to contents of the Parent Handbook.
  • Report to the Director and DHS any cases of suspected child abuse or neglect; document information. Routine Responsibilities
  • Assist Lead Childcare Teacher to coordinate supplies in advance.
  • Prepare and clean up classroom, Family Life Center, and other areas used by AGC.
  • Clean toys and equipment on a regular basis as delegated by the Lead Teacher.
  • Prepare and distribute nutritious snacks, as defined by DHS guidelines. Professional Responsibilities
  • Abide by All God's Children Staff Covenant
  • Display professional ethics and behavior
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled by the Director
  • Attend school functions such as fundraisers, Open House, or Jesus's Birthday Party as requested by the Director
  • Maintain current certification in CPR, First Aid, Universal Precautions, Mandatory Reporting, and Essentials Training
  • Participate in annual training as requested by the Director
