Duties Develop and implement comprehensive, age-appropriate curriculum plans that incorporate literacy education, math, physical education, and social-emotional learning strategies. Lead daily classroom activities, ensuring they are engaging, educational, and aligned with developmental milestones. Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management techniques, creating a positive environment conducive to learning. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child's progress, milestones, and any concerns, fostering strong home-school partnerships. Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and support staff, providing guidance on classroom management and instructional best practices. Ensure compliance with all mandated reporting laws related to child welfare and safety protocols. Maintain detailed records of student progress, assessments—including standardized testing—and lesson plans to support individualized learning. Promote inclusive practices by integrating special education strategies and early intervention techniques tailored to diverse learner needs. Uphold health and safety standards by maintaining first aid and CPR certifications, ensuring a secure environment for children at all times. Requirements CDA or Associate's degree or higher With six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six; or 2) One year (1,560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center and 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of credits Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, curriculum development, and classroom management techniques. Familiarity with special education practices, early intervention strategies, and literacy education methods. Excellent communication skills for effective parent engagement and team collaboration. Valid first aid and CPR certification; ongoing commitment to health safety standards. Ability to implement behavior management strategies that foster positive social interactions among children. Experience teaching physical education or tutoring young learners is a plus. Knowledge of mandated reporting laws related to child welfare is essential. Demonstrated ability to plan lessons that incorporate math concepts and support overall child development instruction. Private school or preschool teaching experience is desirable but not required; passion for early childhood education is essential.
