Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Preschool Teacher-Director Qualified to lead and inspire early childhood education programs. In this vital role, you will oversee classroom activities, develop engaging curricula, and foster a nurturing environment that promotes the holistic development of young children. Your leadership will ensure that our preschool provides exceptional care, education, and support to children and their families. Duties Design and implement comprehensive curriculum plans that incorporate early childhood education standards, literacy education, math, physical education, and social-emotional learning. Lead classroom activities with enthusiasm, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for children across various age groups, including toddlers and preschoolers. Manage daily classroom operations, including behavior management, child welfare practices, and adherence to mandated reporting laws. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress, developmental milestones, and any concerns. Supervise and mentor teaching staff to maintain high-quality instruction, classroom management, and adherence to best practices in early intervention and childhood development instruction. Conduct ongoing assessments using standardized testing methods to monitor child progress and inform instructional strategies. Ensure compliance with all licensing requirements, health and safety regulations such as first aid and CPR certifications, and childcare standards. Skills Extensive experience working with children in preschool or early childhood settings, including classroom experience with toddlers. Strong knowledge of curriculum development tailored to early childhood education principles. Proficiency in behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies to promote positive behavior. Familiarity with special education needs, early intervention programs, and inclusive teaching practices. Excellent communication skills for parent interaction, team collaboration, and community engagement. Ability to develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math skills, physical activities, and social-emotional learning components. Knowledge of childhood development stages and appropriate instructional methods for various age groups. Certification in first aid and CPR; understanding of mandated reporting laws related to child welfare. Experience working in private schools or similar educational environments is preferred but not required.

Requirements:

Applicants must meet Illinois DCFS Director Qualification requirements, including: Must be at least 21 years of age. Meet Illinois DCFS qualifications for a Child Care Director. 1) A minimum of an associate degree from an accredited college or university in child development or early childhood education; or 2) The equivalent (defined as 64 semester hours or 96 quarter hours in any discipline, with a minimum of 21 semester hours or 31.5 quarter hours from an accredited college or university in courses related to child development, early childhood education or early childhood special education) and one of the following: A) Gateways to Opportunity Level I Illinois Director Credential; or B) 3 semester hours or 4.5 quarter hours of college credit in child care administration, leadership, or management; or C) 3 points of credential-approved training in child care administration, leadership, or management. Minimum experience requirements as outlined by Illinois DCFS licensing standards. At least two years experience in the classroom.
