We have been inspiring and educating students in the Hinsdale area for over 50 years and have a reputation for excellence. The ECEC is currently seeking an early childhood teacher to join our dynamic team for the 2026-27 school year. Employment would begin in August to allow sufficient time for on-boarding and lesson planning. The successful candidate will be excited to be the lead teacher in our classroom for 3-year-old children and to interact with their families. Applicants must be willing to daily share their Christian faith with children in our Reggio-inspired, DCFS-licensed school. This is a full-time (>30 hours/week) position, Monday - Friday, with health and retirement benefits.
Position Duties:
Follow the Reggio Emilia philosophy of early childhood education. Encourage students in singing, dancing, and other rhythmic activities. Encourage students in the use of art materials to promote self-expression and an appreciation of esthetic experience. Assess and document student learning via student portfolios. Use regular communications with parents and keep them informed of their child's progress.
Requirements:
Excellent communication and organizational skills. Highly proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Suite and Google. Ability to build relationships between students, parents, co-workers, members of the school board, and members of the congregation of Zion Lutheran Church. Strong desire to teach young children, inspire their creativity, and grow their relationship with Jesus. Ability to manage a classroom of up to twenty 3-year-olds, with the help of a Teacher Assistant. Ability to work as a team with other staff members and the Director of the ECEC. The preferred candidate will have bachelor's degree in early childhood education, or in elementary education with early childhood credits. Previous experience in early childhood education is also preferred.
Salary:
Salary will be part of a 10-month contract for the 2026-27 school year and will be dependent on experience and education. A summer camp contract can be combined with the school year contract to create a year round position.
